Kaixo egunon!
Today we have two dances that go together, from the Lapurdi carnival: Ximple and Marmutx. One of them has a melody that is very similar, or rather, identical, to one of the most famous dances, the one from Zuberoa. We will do that one in our own time, you will find out which one it is. And the other one is a song that appears almost all over Europe, which will sound familiar to you as ‘For he is a jolly good fellow’ or ‘Marlborough Has Left for the War’, you will discover that it’s that dance. And it’s danced in fundraising, what does that mean? That the carnival troupe goes from house to house, farmhouse to farmhouse, and dances in exchange for charity, money, something to eat, etc.
